Several months ago, I read this quote by Charles Spurgeon - "A Bible that's falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn't." A thought provoking statement! Shortly after I heard this quote for the first time, my sweet friend, Erika, posted this photo of her granddaddy's Bible on Facebook. He had recently passed away at the age of 85.
A real Bible that belonged to a real person - Mr. Tommy Strother - a man of great character, a leader in the community, successful businessman, a lay speaker, wonderful husband, father and grandfather - someone who obviously wasn't falling apart! His Bible is a testimony of a life well lived that was guided by the Word of God!
Erika's pictures are a perfect illustration of the quote and, knowing Mr. Tommy, made it even more perfect. What a kind, caring man!
May we all be inspired to study the Word of God more so that our Bibles could tell the same story!
